Don’t Throw It All Away

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. Hebrews 10:35-36 (NLT)

God is not slack concerning His promises to you. He has not forgotten about you. The very same words I have used to encourage myself time and time again, I use today to encourage you. It is not easy trusting a God that you don’t see. It is not always easy trusting that He is concerned about what concerns you. But the truth of the matter is we serve a God that will never renege on His promises.

Paul tells us in our scripture reference not to throw away our confident trust in the Lord. Confident trust is the belief that something will happen based on God’s character. Again, He does not falter on His promises. Our reliance then should be on His ability to bring what He promises to pass.

So right now, in this very moment, as hard as it seems to keep believing, I urge you not to throw away your fearless confidence. For, you have need of patient endurance. It is this endurance that helps us to bear up under difficult circumstances without compromising. It is this endurance that prompts us not to give up when we are weary. We will reap the harvest that has been promised to us if we just hang on in there. I challenge you today to stick it out, stick with God’s plan. Stay consistent, keep trusting, keep believing, keep fighting, until you see the promised completion.

Lord, I have failed you time and time again in this area. Help me today to continue along the path that You have laid out for me. Help me to stay true to my assignment even when my feelings get the best of me. Help me to keep the right heart attitude as I wait on You to bring me to my expected end. Most of all, help me to continue trusting Your heart towards me. In Jesus name Amen.

Go Deeper: When you find yourself struggling in your faith, make it a daily habit to find a brother or sister that needs to be strengthen and begin to pray with and for them. As you encourage them, watch God begin to pour back into your life.

Hang on in there…

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Galatians  6:9 NIV

I know things are not going the way you planned.

I know that you thought you would be farther along by now.

I know that you are anxious to see the finished work.

In spite of what it looks like, keep your head up! Regardless to what you may be facing today. God is not slack concerning His promises.

Instead of focusing on what you see, begin to change your focus to what God has said. His Word will not come back to Him void, but it will accomplish everything He sent it out to accomplish.

Hold on; change is on the way. That change may not be in your outward circumstances immediately, but it will take place on the inside of you if you keep fighting, keep praying, and keep pursuing His will for your life.

Lord, it gets harder by the minute to keep a positive outlook when it seems everything is going haywire. Help us I pray to keep our focus tuned in to You and Your Word rather than our circumstances. It is in Your Word that we find hope and renewed strength. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

Grace and Peace,

Only Today Matters

Make a small change today

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. Matthew 6:34 (MSG)

Whatever it is you have been attempting to conquer, take it step by step, moment by moment. We only live one day at a time. Right now, your greatest accomplishment will be to getting through what today holds.  Make it a point to always be prepared. Rise to the challenges. Give it your all! You have what it takes to get it done; trust your ability.

Lord thank you for the grace to live in the here and now. Too often we approach life trying to get to the next big thing rather than enjoying each day you have given. Thank you for teaching us to make every moment count. Thank you for the courage to face and arise above every obstacle that may come our way today. We trust in your unfailing love today. In Jesus name Amen.

There’s Always Hope!

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady. Then, when that happens, we are able to hold our heads high no matter what happens and know that all is well, for we know how dearly God loves us, and we feel this warm love everywhere within us because God has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

When we were utterly helpless, with no way of escape, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners who had no use for him. Even if we were good, we really wouldn’t expect anyone to die for us, though, of course, that might be barely possible. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 5:3-8 (TLB)

Peace be upon you today!

It’s On The Way

And let us not get tired of doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t get discouraged and give up. Galatians 6:9 (TLB)

I know it is difficult to keep believing God when you can not see what He is doing.  You have been praying, seeking, and knocking but no hope seems to be in sight.

I want to encourage you tonight. Don’t allow your heart to faint, you are too close to your breakthrough. The answers you have been seeking, the harvest you have been expecting, it’s on  the way.

At times it becomes hard to see the silver lining in our situation because we are too close. Take a step back and look again. God is at work even in the midst of what is going on.

Lord, I pray for my brother and sister that maybe reading this right now. I ask that you will begin to open their eyes to what you are doing. Help them to look upon their situation with your perspective. Allow them to see the blessings that surround them daily; the wisdom that cries out even in the midst of what they are going through. Infuse them with inner strength. Minister peace and comfort to every troubled heart on tonight, I pray.  May your unfailing love overshadow them even now. In Jesus name, Amen

Grace and peace be upon you,

Stepping Outside the Comfort Zone

It happened that four lepers were sitting just outside the city gate. They said to one another, “What are we doing sitting here at death’s door? If we enter the famine-struck city we’ll die; if we stay here we’ll die. So let’s take our chances in the camp of Aram and throw ourselves on their mercy. If they receive us we’ll live, if they kill us we’ll die. We’ve got nothing to lose.” 2 Kings 7:3 -4 (MSG)

The Lord will often allow us to be forced out into unfamiliar territory in order to get the best out of our lives. We cannot remain comfortable and see progress. One day, I was complaining about it being too hard to lose weight. Yes, here I am again talking about my eating challenges, but I learned so much about discipline and self-control through my struggles. I pray that you will be able to draw from my successes and failures as you read.

The Lord allowed me to know that I don’t like being uncomfortable. Being uncomfortable was the root of the many challenges I faced. It was not that I did not have what it took to see success along my journey, whether in weight loss or other ventures. The giant I faced was to remain in my comfort zone. Too often, we are faced with decisions of moving forward or staying in the state that we are in. The lepers in our key verse evaluated where they were. I loved the perspective they received after taking notice of their condition. Take a look at the latter part of verse 4, “If they receive us we’ll live, if they kill us we’ll die. We’ve got nothing to lose.”

The lepers knew they would die if they stayed by the gate or if they moved into the enemy’s territory. They chose to move out of their comfort zone and face their fears. Upon going into the enemy’s camp the Lord allowed the enemy to hear an army coming towards them. Imagine that! Four lepers sounding like an army! When we decide to be uncomfortable in order to move forward in our goals, we tap into the power of God that has been made available on our behalf. When this happens we are assured victory!

Now the choice is yours. You can remain in your comfort zone or you can decide that being uncomfortable is really nothing compared to the victories you will receive. As for me, I am seeing small victories every day.

Lord, too often we choose to remain comfortable and complacent because of fear of the unknown. Increase our faith in you as we step forward to accomplish even the toughest victories. Our weaknesses only give way for your strength in our lives. Open our eyes to see this. In Jesus name Amen
