Is it Time to Regroup?

Standard

If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. Proverbs 24:10

Lately, I have been focusing on persistent faith in one of my coaching groups. It is amazing how often we start our journey with God on fire! We run head first into new ventures, relationships, new career paths, etc., only to come face to face with the reality it takes to make it all work.

Persistence denotes going forward stubbornly in spite of opposition, importunity, or warning. And of course we know that faith is the substance of things hoped for. In other words, faith believes in what we cannot see. So what happens when we apply persistence to our faith? It should result in a greater fervor, a greater passion, or greater determinations to believe God and to press forward to see what He has spoken come to pass. Again, this is not always the case, when we come face to face with challenges sometimes we falter in our belief. Believing becomes difficult when everything looks to be going the opposite direction that you originally hoped. We begin to realize that it will take much more than originally planned. Does this mean it is not worth fighting for? Absolutely not!

My goal today is to help encourage those of you that have found yourselves here. You have come to a place of decision. Should you continue or should you quit? I say to you today, you have come too far to turn back now. If challenges have increased regroup and find the inner strength you need to keep moving. It’s ok to make adjustments. Just don’t quit!

There is a fighter on the inside of you. Go back to God and seek further instructions. What did He say in the beginning? Did you get all the directions before moving forward? If the path you are on has been sanctioned by Him, He knows the way that you need to take; allow Him to work in you the will to complete the process.

It’s Not Just About Sunday

Standard

How can I stand in a corporate setting and say, “God I love you, God I need you, you’re my everything…Oh but I haven’t even opened your Word, or spent time communing with you this week?” We cannot begin to adore (worship) a God and bring Him praise when we haven’t begun to know Him. Debra Black

IMG_20180226_071228_746

As, I read this statement it reminded me of the time when I thought reading the Bible and worshipping God was just for Sunday. Growing up Sundays were all about going to church. I didn’t understand why at the time, I just knew it was the thing to do.

Now, that I am older and know better I understand that worship is more about having an intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father. It’s not about rules and serving an angry God; it is about getting to know and love the God that created us, the God that loves us and gave His Only Son for us.   To worship God, we must make sure we are spending adequate time with Him to strengthen our relationship.  This can’t happen with just a Sunday mentality.  We must make time with Him a priority every day. Worship is a lifestyle and cultivating intimacy happens through relationship not religion. When we function under the “Sunday only mentality” it stunts the growth of our faith. It is hard for us to trust a God that we don’t know.

God desires to commune with you daily. He is standing at the door of your heart knocking. As scriptures say, today if you hear His voice harden not your heart. Invite Him in to commune with you.  Allow Him to sit with you and share the secrets of His heart. Cultivate that intimate relationship with Him that allows you to walk boldly and confidently in your faith.  He is waiting on you.

Let this cry from David become the cry of your heart today; Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart. Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found. Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money! Turn my eyes from worthless things and give me life through your word. Psalms 119:34-37 NLT

Father, draw us closer to you each day. Let your Word be the food and drink we desire daily. Let your presence become our place of comfort. In Jesus name, Amen.

 Grace and Peace to you,

Mary

It will be well..

He set my feet upon a rock, steadying my footsteps and establishing my path. Psalm 40:2b AMP

2018 came in with a vengeance. On top of seeing snow in unexpected places this year, we have seen a number of tragedies, deaths, illnesses, among other life-altering challenges. It’s almost as if the bottom fell out and many of you find yourselves trying to find sure footing again. Is there a place of certainty that I can find rest? Is there hope for me, my family, and our future?

Even in this moment of transition I speak peace to the weary souls that are at a place of turmoil. I speak rest to your minds from the anxious toil. Cease striving trying to figure it all out and rest in the unfailing love of the Father; for He gives rest to His beloved.

We must learn to accept His sovereignty and receive His grace. There are situations we will never be able to understand. We are to trust that God has it all under control and He is working it all together for our good. He will also reveal His plan as time unfolds.

2nd Corinthians 12:9 encourages us to rely on the grace of God; “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Paul wanted God to remove the problems he faced because they seemed too much for him to bear, but God knowing all too well the purpose of those trials encouraged Him that His power was all He needed.

I challenge you today as you read this to take a step back and ask God to help you see your situation through His eyes. In times like these we need Him to broaden our perspective. As He does take comfort in the rest that He has already provided; be still my friend and know that He is God. There is nothing too hard for our God to handle. When everything around you is shaking, He is a firm foundation. He is the rock of ages. He knows how to steady you and establish your footing on solid ground.

Father, teach me to rest in your unfailing love. I admit I get lost trying to find my way through life’s ups and downs. I don’t always know where to go or what to think. I don’t always know what to do, but you do. May I take comfort in knowing that Your purposes for me will be fulfilled. There is nothing that I will encounter that can separate me from Your love. Thank you, Father. In Jesus’s name Amen.

What On Earth Am I Here For?

Standard

And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.  Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV

Born knowing He would die for the sin of mankind, that was the assignment given to Jesus. His life was already mapped out for Him before the foundations of this world were formed.  He knew that the sin of mankind would be placed on His shoulders. He knew He would be beaten and bruised for our transgressions and the chastisement of our peace would be placed upon Him.  His destiny was to lay down His life for a people of whom, many would reject Him.
Jesus was motivated by the joy of seeing us reconnected to God. His purpose was evident in His words as well as His actions.   Even though He struggled in the Garden of Gethsemane, He chose to keep going in spite of the pain that was on the horizon. His unselfish act kept Him focused on the end result. We can take lessons from the life of Jesus.
Just as Jesus was born with a purpose, so were you and I. God set eternity in our hearts from the moment we got here. He knew we would need something to keep driving us forward. When we take our eyes off what we think and feel and focus on those God has called us to reach, it should motivate us to keep moving forward as well. It is my prayer that the life of Jesus will bring comfort and hope to you as you continue towards your God-given purpose.  If you are struggling with what that purpose is today; take a moment and ask God to reveal to you His plan for your life.
Lord we want to take this time to thank you for the birth of your Son Jesus. Thank you for allowing Him to walk upon the Earth and be the example for us. May His attitude towards pleasing you and serving the purpose for which He came become our very own. In Jesus name, Amen.

Grace and Peace to you,

God’s Got You

Proverbs 3:26 (ERV) You can trust the Lord to protect you. He will not let you fall into harm.

wordswag_1512349841333
Trusting God has become a new buzz word. It is thrown around so loosely that we forget it’s connotation. Anytime we are going through challenging times the first words off the lips of others is normally “Just trust God, it will work out.”
What does it really mean to trust God? I have found in my very own life that trusting God required me to put forth some type of action to show that I believed what God was saying to me. Trusting God required me to stand still at times and knowing with sheer confidence I did not have to be in control. I did not have to come to my own rescue. It assured me that I had help, a reliable source and strength backing me. Proverbs 3:26 here in the Amplified version paints this picture clearly; For the Lord shall be your confidence, firm and strong, and shall keep your foot from being caught [in a trap or some hidden danger].

I implore you today not to take trusting God lightly. He will always be by your side. He is a source of strength in our times of weakness. He is a shield and a buckler whenever we find ourselves in danger. He is a provider when we are in need. And most of all He loves us with an everlasting love. We can rely on His faithfulness. We can trust His heart towards us.

Father even when my trust in You begins to wane. Remind me of Your faithfulness in my life. In Jesus name Amen

Grace and Peace to you,

Don’t settle now

Standard

Yes, you will suffer for a short time. But after that, God will make everything right. He will make you strong. He will support you and keep you from falling. He is the God who gives all grace. He chose you to share in his glory in Christ. That glory will continue forever. 1 Peter 5:10 ERV

You can’t give up now; you have come too far. The fight you are in right now is to help strengthen, establish and shape you for where you are going. You may not realize it but someone in your circle has been inspired by the fight that is in you.  If you cave now, you will be selling yourself short.  You are better than that.

Take a moment and consider who will be lacking because of what you did not finish?  In this life we often focus on ourselves when we are going through fiery circumstances. We lose sight of the fact that God has purpose in our pain. He desires to use our lives as a trophy of His grace.

ust as He told Paul in 2nd Corinthians 12:9 My grace is sufficient for you, my strength  is made perfect in your times of weakness.  God is aware of the struggles you face. He is right there in the midst of it holding you up with His righteous right hand. He is there to help comfort your pain in the midnight hour. He is there to capture your tears in a bottle.  The challenge for us is to be able to see the glimpse of hope in the midst of the darkness we may be facing.

My challenge to you today is to take a moment and reflect on the grace of God in your life. Sometimes the toughest challenges reveal the greatest strength.  Don’t walk away in the midst of the battle; you have what it takes to see it through.  It starts with believing in yourself and your own ability to become who God has created you to be.

Lord, all too often I struggle with staying consistent in the midst of challenges. Here I am today, committing my works to your hands. I ask that You would come along side of me and help me  to continue on even when times are hard. I ask that You would give me the grace and the strength needed to keep fighting and pushing until I see the reward You have for me. Infuse me with inner strength I pray. It is my desire to please you in all that I do. In Jesus’s name, Amen

Are you a good representative?

Standard

Lord, when did we see you hungry and give you food? When did we see you thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you with no place to stay and welcome you into our home? When did we see you without clothes and give you something to wear? When did we see you sick or in prison and care for you?’ Then the king will answer, ‘The truth is, anything you did for any of my people here, you also did for me.  Matthew 25:37-40 (NLT)

We are the hands and feet of Jesus here on the earth. As the Body of Christ, we have been called to be an example to those that do not know Christ. We have been commissioned to be a light in darkness and set apart to draw others into the Kingdom of God. But how exactly do we accomplish this?

In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus gives us a perfect illustration of how this should play out in our everyday lives. We are to feed the hungry, visit the sick, provide clothes and shelter for those that have none, and visit those that are incarcerated. When we take it upon ourselves to love through our actions in any of these ways, we faithfully represent Christ. When we meet the needs of others it glorifies God. All it takes is one random act of kindness to capture the attention of an individual that has lost hope.

Life can sometimes be too much to bear and, when it gets to this point, it is good to know that we have support. It is good to know that we have a place to find hope and reassurance. As representatives of Christ, we have an amazing privilege to plant seeds that will one day bloom into a harvest of new believers. We get to point them toward the safest person of all — Jesus.

I encourage you to be alert and attentive to those you cross paths with daily and seek out opportunities to be that beacon of Hope.

Lord, open our eyes to see those right around us that need a helping hand. May we be attentive and alert on all occasions, ready and willing to serve those in need.  In Jesus name, Amen.
