Peace be still!

Standard

Everyday we are faced with the choice to rest in the promises of God or to stress over the problems we encounter. It should be an easy decision to make but yet we find ourselves often caught between two opinions. On one hand we want so much to trust and believe that God will do just what He says. On the other hand we find ourselves doubting that He actually cares. After all, God has so much more on His plate than to be concerned about our issues.
I am so glad that God is not like man. He is much greater than we can ever imagine. His love for us spans wider than the ocean. Before we were even a thought, He knew us. He presdestined us, made us a part of His master plan. That should be grounds for our trust. I have found that it is much easier to trust a God that has a proven track record. I would rather take my chances with God any day than to walk in fear and doubt on a regular basis. I have been there and done that too many times. Today, I choose the peace that comes with trusting that God will perform what He has promised. I may not know when. I may not know how, but I can be confident that He never fails. He has proven Himself faithful time and time again.

Lord it is so easy to get caught up in the turmoil of everyday life and to focus on what we see rather than what You have said. It should always be an easy choice to trust you and rest in Your promises but even the best of us struggle. Teach us daily to renew our mind on Your promises and meditate in the scriptures that speak of Your love, grace, and assurance. May our hearts take courage in knowing that You have left us Your peace. In Jesus name Amen

Believing is seeing

Standard

“He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭4:21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Pray and Go. Sometimes in life we have to move forward knowing that all things will work out the way it is supposed to. We don’t always know the beginning, the end, and the middle. No, God only gives us a glimpse of what is to come and beckons us to move out and take the next step. This was the case with Abraham. When God spoke to him to leave his country and go to a place that he would show him, Abraham did not know where he was going but he trusted that God would do what He promised.

Many of us would have prayed and begged for God to show us the place then we will go; not Abraham. He believed and it was counted unto Him as righteousness. What about you? Can you lay aside your fears and doubts and trust a God that you don’t see, don’t always understand? Can you lay aside your anxious thoughts and move forward in faith that God will indeed come through for you? Let the faith and the courage that Abraham exhibited encourage your heart today to follow hard after God even when you don’t know what to expect.

In this walk of faith, we don’t always have concrete evidence of what is next but what we can take comfort in is that we serve a God that is a man of His Word. He never changes. He never lies. He never reneges on His promises. He is faithful to deliver on His end. Faith is not always being able to see the road ahead but trusting in the God that does.

Father, we want so much to know that You have our best interest at hearts but sometimes it is scary to trust You. We are a people that live by what we see and not what we believe. Help us to trust that You will not let us fall. Remind us of your faithfulness in our lives. Teach us to take one moment at a time trusting and believing in Your promises. In Jesus name, Amen

You got this!

Standard

When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. Luke 5:4‭-‬6 NKJV

Lord,  help us to walk out the path that You have given us with a spirit of boldness and tenacity knowing that you will not let us fall. You have called us to walk by faith and not by what we see. Help us I pray, to move forward trusting in who we are and what You have placed in us. In Jesus name, Amen.

Don’t Throw It All Away

Standard

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! 36 Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. Hebrews 10:35-36 (NLT)

God is not slack concerning His promises to you. He has not forgotten about you. The very same words I have used to encourage myself time and time again, I use today to encourage you. It is not easy trusting a God that you don’t see. It is not always easy trusting that He is concerned about what concerns you. But the truth of the matter is we serve a God that will never renege on His promises.

Paul tells us in our scripture reference not to throw away our confident trust in the Lord. Confident trust is the belief that something will happen based on God’s character. Again, He does not falter on His promises. Our reliance then should be on His ability to bring what He promises to pass.

So right now, in this very moment, as hard as it seems to keep believing, I urge you not to throw away your fearless confidence. For, you have need of patient endurance. It is this endurance that helps us to bear up under difficult circumstances without compromising. It is this endurance that prompts us not to give up when we are weary. We will reap the harvest that has been promised to us if we just hang on in there. I challenge you today to stick it out, stick with God’s plan. Stay consistent, keep trusting, keep believing, keep fighting, until you see the promised completion.

Lord, I have failed you time and time again in this area. Help me today to continue along the path that You have laid out for me. Help me to stay true to my assignment even when my feelings get the best of me. Help me to keep the right heart attitude as I wait on You to bring me to my expected end. Most of all, help me to continue trusting Your heart towards me. In Jesus name Amen.

Go Deeper: When you find yourself struggling in your faith, make it a daily habit to find a brother or sister that needs to be strengthen and begin to pray with and for them. As you encourage them, watch God begin to pour back into your life.

Grace and Peace,

Mary

Courageous Living

Standard

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the
sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
– Hebrews 12:1

·
It takes courage to face the truth about yourself — your fears, doubts, and insecurities.

·
It takes courage to admit you are wrong when you have hurt someone.

·
It takes courage to stand up for righteousness in the midst of what is popular and accepted.

·
It takes courage not to defend yourself when you know you are innocent.

·
It takes courage to love those that despitefully use and abuse you.

·
It takes courage to forgive others so that you can be forgiven.

·
It takes courage to believe in a God you can’t see.

·
It takes courage to trust that God is in total control when everything around you is in total chaos.

When we walk by faith, we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. They walked the same walk before us.
Many of them did not get to see the promises of God fulfilled on this side of Heaven. They died still believing that what God promised would be theirs.

These men and women of God faced major challenges because of what they believed, but they still believed. Their
lives were shared with us in the scriptures to encourage and inspire us not to quit in tough times. Let us therefore strip off every weight and every sin that so easily distracts us. Let us lay down our will and become heroes of faith for those that will follow
us.

Father, we desire to do your will in the midst of tough situations that we face daily. We want so much to
live a life that is pleasing to you. We desire to follow the example of so many others that have gone before us. Their faith walk showed us how courageous they were as they stood for what they believed. May we walk in that same courage as we continue in our
journey before you. In Jesus name, Amen.

It’s in the waiting….

Standard

Sometimes we just need to stop, breathe and listen to what God is saying. Life can be so busy at times that we miss the important instructions we need to go forward. Give yourself permission to sit still and enjoy the stillness of the moment.
That brief pause may hold the key to the breakthrough you have been awaiting.

Lord teach us how to be still and wait in your presence. Teach us how important it is to listen for your still small voice in the midst of our daily routine.

Thank you for always being available for us. In Jesus name, Amen

Don’t always believe what you see

Standard

“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:17-18‬ ‭NLT

Focusing on what’s right before us can trip us up. As believers, we have been instructed to walk by faith and not by sight but the trouble comes in when what God said is not lining up with what is going on in our present circumstances.

When challenges arise we must incline our hearts to focus more on God’s commands. Remember, His word provides us hope, encouragement, and the strength to keep moving. The more we attend to what is going on around us, on social media, or the news for that matter, we fill our hearts with fear and uncertainties.

Proverbs 4:23 reminds us to guard our hearts with all diligence because out of it flows the issues of our lives. What we focus on will grow. I don’t know about you, but if I have a choice in what grows or becomes dominant in my life I would prefer it be the Word of God.

Fear torments. Fear paralyzed. If we are to reap the rewards God has promised we must gain control of our focus. The word let’s us know that trouble does not last always. When it presents itself we must be quick to remember God is a very present help in the time of trouble instead of falling prey to fear. He may not deliver us quickly but He is at work behind the scenes, working out all things that concern us. The challenges we are facing right now are working for us to produce a great and a glorious reward. Can you hold on until it’s revealed? God is indeed at work on our behalf.

Lord, You see what we don’t see. You understand what we don’t understand. Help us to focus more on Your voice, Your Word rather than what we see. Help us to know Your ways. Help us to recognize Your voice. Remind us of Your plans to do us good and not evil. Strengthen our hearts as only a You can. In Jesus name Amen.
