Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. Joshua 1:8 (NLT)
Why do we fail? There are many answers to this question. The one I want to draw attention to today is; not following instructions, not being faithful to the plan of action that has been laid out for us.
In school we were accustomed to following directions to complete a class assignment or pass the test we studied so hard for. It is the same when we come into the Kingdom of God. We no longer must take written exams, but we are still tested daily to see if we will follow our Father’s instructions.
In our reference scripture, Joshua makes this point very clear. We are to study this book of instruction continually, meditating on it day and night so we will be sure to obey everything that is written in it. It is only after our study and meditation upon God’s word that we will prosper and succeed in all we do.
Can you honestly say that you are obeying this principle of success daily? Oftentimes we get sidetracked with the world’s system of success. We follow the advice and the instructions of everyone else but the Lord. It is so easy to get distracted by their methods, after all, they appear much easier than the formula God has set forth. However, if we desire to see guaranteed success, we must faithfully follow God’s plan of action.
Let’s look at the definition of faithful for a moment. To be faithful is to be strict or thorough in performance of duty, true to one’s word, promises, or vows; steady in allegiance or affection: loyal; constant. Is this the effort you have been putting forward when it comes to applying God’s Word to your life?
Can God trust you to follow His voice? If the answer to these questions are no, I challenge you today to make a quick you turn. Set your mind today to stay the course. Decide to no longer turn away from God’s plan of action. Be faithful to His instructions for your life. Stay focused on the purpose and the plan He has laid out for you to see your desired outcome.
Lord, I desire to do your will. I desire to follow wholeheartedly the plan of action you have outlined in your Word. I admit today, my weakness in doing so. I pray that you will help me to stay focused and faithful to you and your instructions for my life. Teach me, I pray to do what pleases You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Grace and peace,
Grace and Peace to you,
