Grace and Peace,

I’m Flawed, Now What?

“Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.” 1 Corinthians 1:27 (NLT)

God can’t use me. I’m flawed. I have too much baggage. I don’t have enough money. I’m not pretty enough. I’m not smart enough. I’ve made too many mistakes….

How many times have we told ourselves that we’re not good enough for God? The truth is, God specializes in using broken vessels.

Rehab, a prostitute, saved Israelite spies from the men of Jericho and became a part of Jesus’ lineage. Moses, a murderer, delivered the children of Israel from Egypt. David, an adulterer, was considered a man after God’s own heart. A talking donkey saved the prophet from being killed by the Angel of the Lord. Paul, a persecutor of Christians, went on to write about two-thirds of the New Testament.

So what’s holding you back? I challenge you to go beyond your own limitations today. Give God the broken pieces of your life. The weaknesses you are ashamed of are the perfect message of His grace. He is able to use the mess of your life and turn it into a message of hope for someone else.

You have a unique story of God’s grace to share with those who find themselves in similar situations. When you become transparent about God’s love and acceptance in spite of your flaws, it inspires others to believe. So go beyond your own limitations today and give the gift of hope. Someone is waiting on what you have to offer.

God, we recognize today that You take the foolish things of this world to confound us all. It is so apparent that Your thoughts are not our thoughts and Your ways are not our ways. What we see as hopeless, You see as life-giving. Help us to see as You see. Help us to go beyond our own imperfections and see Your hand of grace in our lives. As we do, help us to use that same grace to impact the lives of others. In Jesus’ name, amen.

As a step of faith, reach out to someone in need today and share a message of hope through a smile or a kind deed. People are looking for the love of God, and it begins with each of us as believers.

Breaking you through to a better you!

Just in case you forgot..

Even though others may have cast you aside and abandoned you, the Lord your God never will. He promised to always be with you. Take courage knowing that He is a God of His Word.

Be strong! Be courageous! Do not be afraid of them! For the Lord your God will be with you. He will neither fail you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (TLB)

Lord I pray for all my brothers and sisters that have been dealing with issues of abandonment on today; those that have been rejected and feels as though they have been forgotten about. I pray that you will minister healing to their hearts. I thank you that you have not forsaken them.

Assure them of  your love. Your Word says that nothing can separate us from the love of God.  Assure them of your open arms of grace. When we come to you, you never turn us aside. Assure them of their place in your heart. Your Word says that we are the apple of your eyes.

Thank you that you are always there. You are a very present help for them in their time of need. May they experience your peace today. In Jesus name Amen

Grace and Peace,

Choose Love

When dealing with difficult situations today, be reminded of this simple truth; how someone treats you is a reflection of their heart. How you respond is a reflection of yours. Choose to walk in the love of God.

So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.
Colossians 3:12-14 (MSG)

Are You Fully Surrendered….

How often have you allowed a few days, weeks, months to pass before reading the Bible?

How often have you pursued your own desires and the pleasures of this world?

How often do you bring your thoughts under control of the Holy Spirit?

Does your life reflect the will of your Heavenly Father?

It’s time to take inventory of where we are spiritually. The Lord longs to help us in our times of need but we must first surrender ourselves to Him.

Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now Your word do I keep [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying it]. Psalm 119:67 AMP

Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15 (AMP)

That means you must not give sin a vote in the way you conduct your lives. Don’t give it the time of day. Don’t even run little errands that are connected with that old way of life. Throw yourselves wholeheartedly and full-time—remember, you’ve been raised from the dead!—into God’s way of doing things. Sin can’t tell you how to live. After all, you’re not living under that old tyranny any longer. You’re living in the freedom of God. Romans 6:12-14 (MSG)

[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight. Philippians 2:13 (AMP)

Father forgive us for picking up your Word only after our ways fail us. Forgive us for not remaining focused and intent on doing your will. Too often, we get caught up in our ever day routine and lose sight of your will for our lives. Forgive us for giving ourselves over to every thought, craving, and desire, for Your Word says we should not give any part of our body over to sin. Help us Lord to get ourselves back on track fully committed to you and your plans for our lives. Help us to submit to your good will and pleasure. Help us to rely on your Strength and not our own. Help us to surrender our will to yours. We know that you have our best interest at heart. In Jesus name Amen

Grace and Peace to you!

Be a Seeker

But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.     Matthew 6:33 AMP

While reading Beauty for Ashes by Joyce Meyer, the above scripture stood out to me in a new light. Immediately, I felt like crying out. The Lord began to deal with me about letting go of unhealthy attachments. One of my greatest challenges was eating for comfort. The Lord revealed to me that I was striving after and seeking comfort in food rather than in Him.  Food is always easily accessible and it helps to soothe the pain for a moment.  Letting go of that comfort scared me, because now I had to learn new coping skills.  I must admit, when I began the process I felt weak and helpless, but the more I looked to the Lord, I found strength to endure. Now, I am on a path to freedom.

It is amazing, we all seek solace and comfort from outward things, ignoring the fact that our answer is in the Lord alone. What is your drug of choice? What is it that you chase after to help ease your pain? The Lord longs to set us free. In order to obtain that freedom, we must first make some exchanges: His love and acceptance for our fear and rejection, His healing for our brokenness, His peace for our chaos and His joy for our sadness. Temporary healing is not the Lord’s desire for us. He yearns for His children to be satisfied totally. When Jesus appeared to the Samaritan Woman at the well, He promised her water that would satisfy her thirst, not a sip, but a thirst quencher.

Make a choice to seek, aim at, and strive after the Lord today. When you reach out to Him, you will find that He is a healer.  He can mend your brokenness and minister to the deep rooted wounds.  Most of all He can be trusted with your inner issues. Be a seeker, run to Him today and allow your healing to begin. He awaits you. Softly and gently Jesus is calling. Will you come?

Father, teach us to rest in you when we are hurting. It is in you we will find the comfort and the answers we need.  I pray that we will seek after you more than we seek after our necessary food. May our hearts thirst for all that you have to give. Only your living water will satisfy us.  In Jesus name Amen

What do you seek after and find comfort in when you are hurting, alone, tired, etc.?

Are you willing to make an exchange with the Lord today?  Are you willing to trade your sorrows and accept His healing, peace, or joy?
